Kyoto University members can access to every reading room and stack rooms.
Others need to register at the information counter.

How to find the library materials
Kyoto University Libraries Online Catalog (KULINE)
Start by searching Kyoto University Libraries Online Catalog (KULINE) to find in which library the book or journal you want is located.
If the "Location" of the book includes "AgricLibr", search the stacks in the reading rooms or the stack rooms in accordance with the call number.
Current periodicals are on the 2nd floor, back numbers of periodicals be arranged in alphabetical order on Basement floor.
If the "Location" of the book doesn't include "AgricLibr", these materials are located in labratories.
Please ask us if you want to use.
Materials cannot be searched by KULINE
- ○The Former Colonial Collection
- The Former Colonial Collection consists of the materials related to the former Japanese colonial policy.
At present you are unable to search the Former Colonial Collection by online catalogue (KULINE).
We have a temporary catalogue (in Japanese only) and please use it.
- ○Matsubara Collection
- Matsubara Collection consists of the academic works about ichthyology taxonomy.
These materials were collected by Dr. Matsubara Kiyomatsu who was the first professor of the Department of Fisheries of Kyoto University.
At present you are unable to search the Matsubara Collection by online catalogue (KULINE).
We have index cards in the agriculture library and please use them.
- ○How to use
- When you would like to see the Former Colonial Collection or Matsubara Collection, you need to make a reservation at least one day in advance.
These materials cannot be borrowed. Please use them within the library.
According to the condition of materials, some materials are not allowed using Copy Machine.
Before you make copies, you must ask a staff.

Using the Electronic Journals and Databases
Kyoto University offers E-Journals (about 40,000 titles) and Databases (about 100 DB) to the faculty, staff, and students of Kyoto University. [Bookmarklet and ESC-ID/SPS-ID required]- For Access to e-resources, the license conditions has set forth by publishers who provides. All publishers prohibit the following actions,
- Systematic and programmatic download
- Usage beyond the private purpose
- Reproducing and distributing
- In case that you violate the license conditions, they will suspend our license to access from campus. You are required to comply with the license.

Lending service
1.Lending procedure
- Books and journals can also be checked out at the automatic check-out machine.
- Materials without a barcode and other materials that cannot be processed by the automatic check-out should be checked out at the counter.
- *If you are non-member of the University, you cannot borrow books or periodicals.

3.Reserving a Book
- A book that is out on loan can be reserved and then used as soon as it is returned. Inquire at the Counter.
- A book can also be reserved online through KULINE. [Account required]
4.Renewing a Book
- Books that you currently have on loan can be renewed (the loan period can be extended) once, if the material is not reserved.
- Use the automatic check-out machine or inquire at the counter, during the loan period of the books.
- You can also renew your loan online through MyKULINE. [Account required]

5.Return
- Take materials of this library returns to the truck in front of the counter.
- Take book of other campus library(*) returns to the counter.
- When the library is closed, the book chute may be used to return books of this library.
- *UJI campus, KATSURA campus, South campus (Medical, Pharmacy etc) and Yoshida-South campus. Ask for details.
Photoduplication service
It is allowed to make only one copy of the portion of the document for the purpose of research and study.Also, photocopying can only be done within the scope of the Copyright Act.

- a.Faculty of Agriculture Members
- You can use the Copy Card distributed to each of the laboratories or the institutes.
- b.Other faculty (of Kyoto University) Members
- Please bring "Kyoto University Common Photocopying Form" (Kyoto Daigaku Bunken Fukusha Riyosho)
- 2.Private expense
- You can use the Copy Machine on the 2nd floor by Co-op copy card.
- After you copy, please fill out "Photocopying Form" (Bunken Fukusha Moshikomisho) at the counter.
- Copy machines in the Library are for reproducing Library materials. (You can't copy personal or non-library materials)
- Please have Co-op copy card by yourself.
- We can't issue a receipt.
- ※If you need a receipt, apply for the counter.
- Internal user:20yen(B & W copy per sheet), 60yen(Color copy per sheet)
- External user:35yen(B & W copy per sheet), 80yen(Color copy per sheet)
- ・Service Hours 9:00 - 16:30
- ・We write a receipt made out to individual name.
- ・Please have the exact amount ready.

- You can order resources owned by the University in a remote location (Katsura, Uji, etc.), or other universities. Apply for the counter or online.
- Borrowing the books from other institutes and photocopies can be paid by at public or privete expense.

When you make copies by the public expense at the other libraries in Kyoto University
- "Kyoto University Common Photocopying Form" (Kyoto Daigaku Bunken Fukusha Riyosho) is required.
